Description

The Injection molding compounder consists out of the "Leistritz Compounder ZSE 27 MAXX", a fully electric 1800 kN "Engel" injection molding machine, gravimetric "Barbender"-dosing units, a "Witte"melt pump,  and a continuous melt filter as well as an "Econ" underwater pelletising system. 

A three-ways-valve and a special pant control system allows the IMC to either run as injection-molding compounder (combined process) or as an injection molding machine and a compunder in separate.

Injection Moulding Machine Rheometer (IMMR)

Short description

The injection moulding machine rheometer for thermoplastic materials allows the measurement of shear viscosity depending on shear rates, temperature as well as pressure directly on the injection moulding machine.

The IMMR allows higher applicable shear rates than those measureable on a high pressure capillary rheometer (HPCR) as the power of the injection unit can be used for higher injection pressures. Furthermore, the processing prehistory of the material can be taken into account.

The ISO (International Standard Organisation) test specimen tool is used to injection mold tensile test specimen according to DIN EN ISO 527-2. With the use of different mold inserts rheological measurements (pressure drops and flow distance) can be performed. Also the mechanical properties of welding lines can be tested.

Short description

Cadmould describes the injection moulding process and allows the virtual optimization. The simulation of the filling phase can be used for the determination of the necessary injection pressure, clamping force and allows the assessment of the possible number of cavities or required injection moulding machines. Furthermore, weld lines, trapped air and similar defects can be detected.

The simulation of the holding and cooling phase allows the characterization of shrinkage and warpage of the part as well as potential sink marks and other optic defects.

For the processing of rubber compounds, the necessary curing time and the resulting local curing degree profile as well as possible material and mould temperatures can be determined additionally.

Short description Varimos- ‘Virtual And Real Injection Moulding Optimisation System’, developed by Simcon kunststofftechnische Software GmbH is an extension of the injection moulding simulation Cadmould. Thereby, systematic experimental designs (DoE) are used to calculate the effects of changed processing parameters as well as varied geometries (e.g. wall thicknesses). A virtual assessment of the part quality is possible and necessary changes of the mould design can be detected prior to the mould manufacturing stage. Furthermore, it is possible to determine a possible processing window where the quality criteria are met without performing any practical experiments.
