Compounding

Thanks to many years of experience in the field of compounding and material development, we are able to solve a wide variety of tasks from these areas in accordance with the state of the art.

Production of (highly) filled polymer compounds from small quantities up to semi-industrial scale
Development of materials with customized property profiles
Mechanical, thermal and rheological characterization of compound materials
On- and in-line quality control of compounding processes using NIR spectroscopy

What we do:
  • Custom compounding

The CircularBioMat project deals with the substitution of petroleum-based polymers in building services engineering (BSE) and supply technology. It is investigating the potential of bio-based polymers as an alternative, for example for plugs, switches, piping and other technical components. The project is investigating eight different bio-based materials, looking at both unreinforced and reinforced materials and, above all, recycled materials. The first prototypes will then be produced using the materials studied and compared with the components conventionally available on the market. A life cycle analysis will show the potential of the bio-based base materials.

The Institute of Polymer Processing will test the selected materials for their processability and develop corresponding production processes in Injection Molding, Extrusion and Additive Manufacturing. At the end, molded parts will be available for life cycle analysis.
