The students are studying ‘Materials Science and Technology’ at ENIS in Sfax. Through a collaboration within the European School of Materials (EEIGM) branch of the Materials Science and Technology programme, the students have now written their Master’s theses at the Montanuniversität Leoben.
Three students, three materials: polymers, metals and ceramics
The three Master’s theses focused on different materials and were carried out at three different departments at the University of Leoben. The topics ranged from the investigation of biofibre-reinforced bioplastics at the Institute of Polymer Processing under the supervision of Dipl.-Ing. Stephan Schuschnigg, to the characterisation and testing of 3D-printed aluminium for aerospace and rocket applications at the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metallurgy under the supervision of Ass. -Prof. Dr Matheus Tunes, to a study of the contact damage behaviour of 3D-printed porous ceramics at the Chair of Structural and Functional Ceramics under the supervision of Dr Josef Schlacher.
International collaboration in the ‘Materials Science’ department
At the Montanuniversität Leoben, there are several international collaborations in the field of ‘Materials Science’. In the Bachelor's Programme ‘Materials Science and Technology’ (MaWiTech), students can choose the European School of Materials (EEIGM) track and thus complete part of their studies at the French engineering school EEIGM (École Européenne d’Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux) in Nancy, France. If students subsequently continue their programme in collaboration with the EEIGM, they also have the opportunity to obtain a double degree.
In the international Master’s programme Advanced Materials Science and Engineering (AMASE) , the Montanuniversität also collaborates with the EEIGM and other partner universities from Germany, France, Sweden, Spain and Italy.
