Following a visit by a delegation from the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) to the Montanuniversität Leoben (MUL) in June 2026, a delegation from MUL and Mavi-Tech traveled to Shanghai to further expand the existing partnership with the Chinese university and explore new opportunities for academic and scientific collaboration.
During the visit, the delegation met with ECUST leadership as well as representatives from the School of Materials Science and Engineering. The discussions focused on reviewing past collaboration and exploring further opportunities for cooperation in research and teaching. In addition, the delegation visited several ECUST research laboratories and gained insights into the university’s scientific facilities and current research activities.
A highlight of the program was the meeting with students from the joint educational program between MUL and ECUST on ECUST’s new campus. During the meeting, professors of polymer engineering Thomas Grießer, Clara Schuecker, and Steffen Stelzer presented their respective research areas and scientific focuses. They provided the students with insights into current research questions at the Montanuniversität Leoben and highlighted potential avenues for future academic collaboration.
The direct exchange between the professors and students offered a valuable opportunity to learn about the research activities at the Montanuniversität Leoben and to promote international knowledge transfer. The visit underscores the shared interest of both universities in further developing their collaboration in research and teaching and in sustainably strengthening the international networking of their students and researchers.
