Student representatives for Materials Science and Technology
The student representatives for Materials Science and Technology act as a link between students and lecturers and are always available to answer your questions and address any issues you may have regarding your studies. The best place to get helpful tips and tricks from experienced students is at the regular get-togethers organised jointly with the Association of Polymer Engineering and Science Leoben Plastics Engineers (VLK) and the Association of Polymer Engineering and Science Leoben Materials Scientists (VLW. Stay up to date and follow the student representatives on Facebook and Instagram.

What does the student council do?
We
- support students in their studies. If problems arise and we are made aware of them, we take care of the matter and advise you.
- represent the student body in various matters vis-à-vis professors and university staff.
- are part of the curriculum committee and ensure that the Materials Science and Materials Technology programme is studyable.
- We regularly organise events together with the VLK (Association of Leoben Plastics Engineers) and the Association of Leoben Materials Scientists VLW. These include our annual Christmas party and the KomeTogether, as well as our summer party – the suckling pig barbecue. The student representatives, together with the VLK and the Department of Polymer Engineering and Science, cover the costs of these events and ensure that you are well fed.
- As the latest highlight, we organise an annual party, the proceeds of which are used to sponsor the main excursion.
- In addition, there are also regular get-togethers. Usually, the student representatives or the associations pay for the first round of drinks.
- At all these events, you have the opportunity to chat with professors and other students of materials science and materials technology / polymer engineering and science / materials science from higher semesters in a relaxed atmosphere. This allows you to build a strong network while you are still studying.
- support our students with grants and subsidies. Below are some forms that can be used to apply for grants. We are always open to new ideas! Feel free to get involved, contact us by email, WhatsApp or Instagram, or in person – maybe we can help you realise your project!
- After completing their degree exams, our graduates receive a small souvenir of their time at university!
