Polymer pipe layers meet in Leoben

At the invitation of the ÖVGW, the annual meeting of trainers and examiners for polymer pipe layers took place on November 7.

Almost every seat in the seminar room at the IZW was taken at the annual meeting of polymer pipe layers. The meeting was organized by the ÖVGW - der Österreichischen Vereinigung für das Gas-und Wasserfach which has been cooperating with the Department Polymer Engineering and Science Leoben for three decades. After registration and a breakfast snack, the program got started: Ing. Martin Schmid (Vorarlberger Energienetze GmbH) welcomed the participants, after which Prof. Gerald Pinter (Head of the Institute of Materials Science and Testing of Polymers WPK) spoke about the university and the research work in the field of pipes.

This was followed by news from the ÖVGW and specialist presentations: Márton Bredács (Polymer Compentence Center Leoben GmbH PCCL) spoke about the material properties of polyethylene in connection with hydrogen and Martin Stoff (Holding Graz) gave a presentation on low-digging rehabilitation measures as a standard procedure in Graz.

After a lunch break, there was a tour of the PCCL's testing infrastructure and the Institute of Materials Science and Testing of Polymers at the Center for Polymer Engineering and Science.
